Wow. For some reason, I decided to check this. To see if anyone still wrote in it.

To be honest, this used to be one of the first things I used to go to whenever I woke up. I always wanted to see what was going on in everyone's lives according to what they had updated on here. I'm a dork, I know.  And even if I hadn't kept in touch with a few people as much as I wanted to, it was good to know that I at least knew what was going on in everyone's lives. Nowadays, the only way I hear or find out about what's going on with people is through Facebook or away messages, or I've lost touch with them. I don't call anyone as much as I'd like. I don't see anyone as much as I'd like. Everyone has become busy. Or they're too far away, or some other

So here. For anyone out there wanting to read and wanting to know what's is going on in the life of Mark Padilla. I'm almost finally finished school. I'm finished working at Pusser's after next week (reoccurring theme, except this is almost 99.9999999% sure...no wait, I'm 100% positive.) Even if I don't get a job right after I graduate, I'm not going back.

Other than that, not much has changed. I'd like to think that I'm still basically the same person I was 4 or 5 or 6 years ago. I'd like to think that I haven't changed for the worse because no one likes that. I think I'm more realistic with issues and the world. But what do I know.

One thing I used to love about this whole thing was being able to see what I had written in it in the past year or two or maybe 3. I liked going back in the past to see if I had written anything interesting or profound. I don't think I really did. But it's nice to see how I was feeling back in the day.

Okay, that's all. Maybe I'll write on here in another year. At this rate, maybe two years.

Geez, no one ever writes in this thing anymore. Ever!
So I'm still up at 1:36 AM. In a little more than 2 hours, I'll leave my house to try and get a hold of a PS3.
Once the time hit 12:30, I didn't think it made much sense to take a nap, because I probably would've kept sleeping.
All for a mere chance at a stupid machine that I won't even be able to play.

Fuck it, I'm going to bed...

The grass is greener if you're happy. [Oct. 22nd, 2006|09:17 pm]
[Current Mood | apathetic]

It's been a long time since I've updated. School is okay. I haven't really seen much of anyone lately. Work sucks and I think I'm finally finished working at Pusser's. But eh, I'll move on.

Maybe I'll really update one of these days.

I'll update later.... [Jul. 4th, 2006|05:18 am]
[Current Mood | exhausted]

This is my away message tonight. It pretty much explains my past week at work and this upcoming weekend:

finally going to bed. maybe this time, i won't wake up at 6:30 am and think it's time to wake up for the day after only an hour and a half of sleep.

and then off to work at 12ish (technically, i'm scheduled at 1) to find parking and finally see the end to the most grueling 6 days straight ever. and then i get ONE day off, and another 5 or 6 days. and after all of this is said and done, i'll get my paycheck next week for more then 110 hours of work in two weeks.

It's sucked a lot. It makes me consider not doing this again next summer. I've never really worked there all year, and according to my brother, he made more than $45,000 throughout the year barbacking.

Oh man, McNair is a Raven! Back to the playoffs! (As long as he doesn't get hurt and we're stuck with Boller again.)

A real update later.

a little study break... [May. 15th, 2006|03:44 pm]
[Current Mood | still stressed]
[Current Music |Blue October - Hate Me]

So yeah, I checked up on my credit report and my credit score last week, and I was suprised that I actually have a pretty good credit score. It's 825 (I think, it's been a week, so I don't really remember), which is in the "good range" according to this chart I was looking at. A perfect credit score is 950, I believe. And I was really suprised that I have a better credit score than both my brother and sister, who are 6 and 2 years older than me, respectively.

But if you guys are bored and are wondering what your credit report looks like, you should find out. It's always good to know if someone else is trying to scam you or hijacked your information and is making your history look bad. And the following states have laws that make free credit reports available to consumers (finding out what your credit score costs money though): Colorado, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont. Go here for a free credit report...its not one of those fake ones and I think it's endorsed by the gov.

The funny thing though is after finding out that I had good credit, I tried applying for a new Shell Credit Card, because they give you discounts on gas (although it has a high APR, but that wouldn't matter if you paid the balance off each month). So I applied for the card online and they accepted me. Except they only gave me a $300 credit limit, which is the lowest credit limit I have ever had, including my first student credit card. And keep in mind that I have a couple credit cards that have credit limits as high as $6000. But eh whatever, I plan on paying it off each month and gas shouldn't cost me more than $300/month anyway, especially since I won't be taking the long hike from Baltimore all the way to Annapolis each day for work this summer.

eh... [May. 15th, 2006|12:33 pm]
[Current Mood | sick and stressed]
[Current Music |Angels and Airwaves - The Adventure]

I have six exams starting tomorrow through next Tuesday and I'm not the least bit ready for half of them. I've always hated having so many exams in a such a short period of time, and in a way, it's always been my achilles heel. I'm trying to plan out how I'm going to be able to study for all of these and use my time efficiently. I'm also scheduled to work this upcoming weekend (which I tried requesting off for, but couldn't, and then tried getting others to pick my shifts up, but no one could), which thwarted my plan to study all weekend for my exams next Monday and Tuesday. I really don't know how I'm going to finish studying to the point where I'm comfortable sitting down and taking each exam without stressing out too much. I know I'm just babbling now, but I needed somewhere to vent.

Right after these dreaded exams, I'm getting on a plane to California to visit Adrian for almost a week and a half. Miles and miles away from all this stress and work. Don't get me wrong, I like work (at Pusser's), but working around this time just adds to all the stress and liimts the time I have available to do others things, like study. Oh, and it sucks being sick.

Wish me luck on these next 6 exams and 8 days of my life. I'll probably need all the luck and time I can get.

I hate getting sick around finals time. I have so much to do, but I can't bring myself up to doing anything because all I want to do is sleep. I think I'm screwed.

don't get fat! [May. 2nd, 2006|05:11 pm]
[Current Mood | hungry]

Man, my weight is up to 170 lbs. I"m not getting fat...at least I hope not. I've been going to the gym on a regular basis, so I'm guessing I've put on about 20-25 pounds of muscle.

But I don't know if I'll be able to keep this up with exams and last few weeks coming up. But we'll see how that goes...

All-Bizarre Injury Team [Apr. 18th, 2006|04:53 pm]
This was an old article from ESPN.com's Page 2, but I reread it and thought it was hilarious...again. Some of my favs are Kevin Mitchell, Rickey Henderson, and John Smoltz...

Manager: Roger Craig (Giants)
Cut his hand on a bra strap ... though we're guessing that's pain he played through.

Catcher: Mickey Tettleton (Tigers)
Once missed action with athlete's foot ... caused by tying his shoes too tight.

First Base: Ryan Klesko (Braves)
Once overexerted himself and pulled a muscle ... while picking up his lunch tray.

Second Base: Bret Barberie (Marlins)
Missed a game after rubbing chili juice in his eye ... probably after getting stuck behind John Kruk in morning stretches.

Shortstop: Rey Quinones (Seattle)
Once was unavailable for pinch hitting duty, because he had already returned to the clubhouse ... to play Nintendo.

Third Base: Wade Boggs (Red Sox)
Injured himself while pulling on his cowboy boots.

Outfield: Kevin Mitchell (Mets/Giants)
The master of all bizarre injuries, he once injured himself while eating a cupcake. That, of course, was when he wasn't missing games because of vomiting -induced muscle strains, or strained eyelids.

Outfield: Ken Griffey, Jr. (Mariners)
Missed a game after suffering a pinched testicle from his protective cup ... which explains why the whole "pain in the butt" thing just isn't phasing Jr.

Outfield: Oddibe McDowell (Rangers)
Yet another sad story of a baseball toughman getting taken out by food, he sliced his hand at the Texas welcome home luncheon while attempting to butter his roll.

Designated Hitter: Glenallen Hill (Blue Jays)
Went on the DL because of cuts suffered after smashing a glass table while dreaming he was being attacked by spiders ... anyway, that's his story, and he's sticking to it.

Bench: Terry Harper (Braves)
Separated his shoulder while waving a teammate home and subsequently high-fiving him.

Bench: Rickey Henderson (Blue Jays)
Missed a game because of frostbite ... in August.

Bench: Mark Smith (Orioles)
Injured his hand after sticking it in an air conditioner to "find out why it wasn't working."

Bench: Jose Cardenal (Cubs)
Missed a game in 1974 because he couldn't blink.

Bench: George Brett (Royals)
Broke his toe on a chair at his home while running from the kitchen to the TV to watch Bill Buckner hit.

Bench: Vince Coleman (Cardinals)
Missed the 1985 World Series after getting rolled up in the tarp machine.

Starting pitcher: John Smoltz (Braves)
Once burned his chest while ironing a shirt ... which he was still wearing.

Starting pitcher: Tom Glavine (Braves)
Redefining the phrase "star hurler," he broke a rib in 1992 after vomiting up airplane food.

Starting pitcher: Nolan Ryan (Astros)
Missed a start after being bitten on his hand ... by a coyote.

Starting pitcher: Carlos Perez (Expos)
Broke his nose in a car accident ... while trying to pass the team bus.

Starting pitcher: Doc Gooden (Mets)
Missed a start when Vince Coleman accidentally struck him with a golf club in the clubhouse.

Middle reliever: Steve Sparks (Brewers)
Dislocated his shoulder attempting to tear a phone book in half.

Middle reliever: Charlie Hough (Rangers)
Once broke his pinky ... shaking hands -- pinky shaking, that is.

Middle reliever: Ricky Bones (Marlins)
Went on the disabled list in 2000 after injuring himself while changing channels on the clubhouse TV.

Middle reliever: Greg Harris (Rangers)
Injured his wrist while flicking sunflower seeds in the dugout

Closer: Jason Isringhausen (Athletics)
Broke his hand while punching a trash can just weeks after stabbing himself in the leg trying to open a package.

all he did was go like this... [Apr. 18th, 2006|04:50 pm]
[Current Mood | calm]
[Current Music |Lit - My Own Worst Enemy]

I haven't updated in a while, but I think I say that every time I ever do say anything on this. So let's see, what's new in my life? For starters, the weather has been awesome lately, which means I'm back working at Pusser's on a regular basis. I've been doing a lot of bartending lately since it's been so busy. Saturday night, I think everyone in Annapolis decided to go to Pusser's, and we ran out of almost every beer. So even though I still have to worry about keeping the bar stocked, I'm pretty much screwing myself over by being able to handle bartending while barbacking. I basically ran around and worked as hard as I could from the time I came in at 4 PM until we called last call and I finished cleaning the bar at 3 AM. And the worst part of having these really busy shifts early in the season is I'm never in top barbacking shape, so I end up being really sore the day after.

As for being in shape, my weight is up to 166 lbs, but I'm hoping it's all because I've been consistently going to the gym 2-3 times a week and I'm gaining more muscle. But that's up 20 pounds from my normal weight last year...

And I got a new phone! I've been meaning to get a new phone for a while, but I was forced to finally get a new one when I lost my old phone somewhere on Thursday.

I think that's it for now...boo work!

Yay for Spring! [Apr. 3rd, 2006|08:43 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |Kanye West - Touch the Sky]

I love this time of the year when we move clocks forward and it gets dark an hour later. It's always nice getting out of a night class and still seeing the sun out. And I also love working that first big shift of the spring at Pusser's and getting paid well and knowing I don't have to worry as much about how I'm going to pay for stuff. And I love when the baseball season starts up again. I think I'm gonna try to go to more Orioles games this summer, depending on how well they are doing and how busy I am this summer.

And for those of you who didn't see my hair really short after a bad haircut in the middle of February because I haven't seen you in months, here you go. The funny thing is it was a little shorter than this. It has since grown back...

I don't wanna go back to school yet! [Mar. 27th, 2006|12:38 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]

Spring break is over. Do I really have to go back to school already? One week just seems too short of a break...

I did have fun driving all the way down to Miami with Jess to enjoy the beatiful, warm and sunny 80 degree weather, a huge difference from the cold, 30 degree weather Maryland was experiencing. The drive wasn't too bad, except on the way back because I didn't want to leave. But it was all in all a very good spring break. We stayed at three really nice Marriott/Renaissance hotels and one crappy Knight's Inn on the way down, but everything seemed to work out well.

We pretty much went to the beach everyday and got really tan, enjoyed my first Orioles spring training game, and attempted to finish an 85 oz. bucket of a drink with Jess. I didn't really drink that much and I never actually got drunk because I had to think about who was driving and drink prices in Miami were high, but drinking isn't everything. I do that enough around here.

Here are a couple pics for your viewing pleasure:

Spring Break!!! [Mar. 12th, 2006|10:06 pm]
[Current Mood | excited]

I only have one exam (and less than a week) holding me back from enjoying the warm sun down in Miami. I have always wanted to have a spring break in warm weather, so this'll be a nice change.

The last three spring breaks, I...
- think I started training as a barback, which was nice because I like my job...
- I went to the Outer Banks with a bunch of people, which was also fun, but it was still cold in North Carolina at the time...
- and last year, I went to Jess' little sister's Bat Mitzvah and went to New York. Instead of going south for warm weather, I went up north to the cold.

And ever since I started trying to every advantage of my Marriott hotel discount, I've stayed at the Marriott Marquis in New York for only $79/night for a $400/night room, a few other rooms for cheap, and I was supposed to go to Florida last year with Jess for $69/night. In Miami, I saw this deal for a Courtyard Marriott on the beach for only $39/night and waited until after I got out of one of my classes to book it, but it was gone. So I had to settle for three nights at this other hotel for $49/night and a couple others for a little more.

But I'm excited. And I just thought of it today...I think we're gonna go to a spring training game the day we're staying in Fort Lauderdale, and there's also a Pusser's Landing down there I'd be willing to visit (it's not Torola or Marina Cay, but it's still a new experience).

Grim Certainty... [Mar. 8th, 2006|12:50 pm]
[Current Mood | studious]
[Current Music |Lit - My Own Worst Enemy]

I feel like I've been living at the library the past few days. In the past three or so days, I think I've spent more than 15 hours here and probably another 5 hours today studying for my exams. Here at the library, I've noticed:
  • I concentrate better when I'm in a quiet room. So I always hate it when I'm on one of the supposed "Absolutely Quiet Floors" and I hear a group of people talking abnoxiously loud and are laughing and having a good time.

  • The bathrooms on the 7th floor are bigger than the ones on the other floors. And less people usually go up there anyway, so there's less people using them to begin with. Something to keep in mind when you need to take a dump.

  • I didn't know they had a bunch of comic books on reserve here.

  • Man, this library really is a useful place for information.

  • Man, I feel really dumb just now thinking libraries are useful for information.
After my Macro exam and French quiz tomorrow, I'll be free for a few days until I have to get back to studying for another exam in my LA Econ Development class next Wednesday. And after that and four other class, my spring break basically starts. So after this one week of studying hell, I'll be free to relax and enjoy my nice long 11+ day break (because I finish with class at 2:15 on Thursday, have no class on Friday, and don't have class again until Monday at 5:30 the 27th).

Last minute plans for spring break might be to take a road trip down to Miami to enjoy the nice, 80 degree weather. Let's hope it all works out...
